Buyer / Planner

The primary responsibility as the Buyer/Planner will be to manage the procurement and production planning activities of various materials and products. This role includes, but is not limited to, developing production schedules, analyzing inventory levels, forecasting demand, and ensuring timely cost-effective acquisition of materials are met. The role will also be required to support remote site locations with order creation and management. This involves coordinating with teams at various locations, understanding their unique needs, and ensuring their requirements are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through negotiation, bulk purchasing, or alternative sourcing.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of items, costs, purchase orders, job orders & supplier records.
  • Place purchase orders tracking order status to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyze sales data, inventory turnover, and demand patterns to make informed purchasing & planning decisions.
  • Manage inventory levels to support both primary & remote site location, addressing any discrepancies between inventory records and physical stock.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints. Coordinating with production teams to ensure that schedules are met.
  • Ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and that any bottlenecks or constraints are addressed promptly.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production problems, such as supply shortages, and implement effective solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent overstock or stockouts.
  • Develop and maintain inventory forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and sales projections.
  • Prepare and present reports on production schedules, inventory levels, and overall performance to management.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • Experience with APS/ERP systems required.
  •  Minimum 3-5 years of experience purchasing & planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel.
  • Attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency with the ability to multitask.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
