This is Diamond Etch ink – the pad printing ink that imitates laser engraving or sandblasting. Yesterday Pete – Inkcups’ Ink Master – printed this logo on a glass jar, today, he experimented with printing on clear plastic. Despite the glare on the photo, you can probably see how nice and crisp it came out.
The Diamond Etch ink was formulated for both pad printing and screen printing – so one can laser etch glass without buying a laser engraving machine. Pad printing allows an operator to make anywhere from 1000 to 1800 prints per hour and unlike with laser etching, it does not matter how detailed the image is!
