I’d like to talk about the Helix® printer and its RIP. It comes with Onyx Standard Poster Shop. One of the things I like about Poster Shop is it is includes all the color profiling tools needed to give you accurate color on the Helix® printers. It’s also a very scalable RIP, it allows you to upgrade to Thrive which gives you multiple print engines, up to 10 print engines which allows you to do one-off production and high-volume individual RIP files. Some of the tools offered in Onyx give you gamut reports based on these profiles. You can use these gamut reports to find out what the DeltaE is going to be on a particular Pantone® Match, which gives you great color predictability in the RIP.
Another tool with Onyx is the Pantone® Swatch Book. What this does is it gives you a range of Pantone® swatches that you can print out on the bottle and then you can match to your Pantone® booklet and pick the one of the swatches within the range to use, because sometimes as we know when you dial in the percentages of a Pantone® and print it it’s not exactly close enough to the Pantone® in the book. This gives you another tool to actually print it out and then match it to the book and then pick the swatch you like, it saves a lot of time.
Onyx RIP also supports numerous color profile configurations IEC, Folgra, G7 and Japan standards. The Helix® printers are built on the Gen 4 printhead. This printhead is proven in the industry and has 10 times the life of MEMS technology which is a silicon based printhead. You get 10 billion shots or actuations of ink with the MH2420. Whereas with the MEMS technology you only get 1 billion which equates to about six months’ worth of usage before you have to replace a MEMS head. Also the Gen 4 head is durable, the head plate can be wiped easily without damage. Most print heads when they get a little bit ink clogging you can reclaim the Gen 4 printhead using our ultrasonic head cleaning technology. Short of an impact you shouldn’t expect to replace a Gen 4 head very often.
The Helix® also has an option for fast pass technology which is where we add two more print heads and double the vertical resolution on the CMYK color. This allows you to pass through the tunnel at six pass instead of 12 and get the same high quality as 12 pass because of the nozzle interlace. The Helix® printer can be configured with additional print heads to give you a faster throughput; we can add two print heads and double the vertical resolution in color so that six passes equivalent to 12 pass as far as resolution and fill quality. Inkcups has the ability to do precision custom tooling. We take a sampling of your parts into the machine shop and we do a fit to part profile on the tooling. This ensures that the tooling runs straight in the tunnel and gives you the best print quality possible.
